ON 17TH OCTOBER 2009 THE EMERGENCY SERVICES RECEIVED MANY CALLS REGARDING A HOUSE FIRE IN THE ELLACOMBE AREA OF TORQUAY, DEVON UK.
ARRIVING AT THE SCENE THEY FOUND MANY RESIDENTS SHOUTING, SCREAMING AND DOING ALL THEY CAN TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY TO SAVE THOSE WHO WERE INSIDE.
THEY HAD MANAGED TO GAIN ENTRY AND THROUGH THEIR BRAVERY SAVED MICHAEL AND GILL WOJAK AND THEIR 20YR OLD SON RICKY. THE FIRE WAS SO INTENSE AND FIERCE THE FIRE CREWS TOOK OVER AND AFTER ENTERING THE HOUSE THEY BROUGHT OUT STEPHANI AND BEN.
STEPHANI 15 years old AND BEN 8 years old (sister AND brother) DIED LATER THAT DAY AT TORBAY HOSPITAL.
FROM A CHAOTIC MORNING TO A SILENT WEEKEND THE COMMUNITY WERE LEFT SHOCKED OVER THIS AWFUL TRAGEDY. FEELING GUILTY THEY WERENT ABLE TO GET TO STEPHANI AND BEN IN TIME.
OUR LOVE AND THOUGHTS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND TO THOSE OF THE COMMUNITY WHO PUT THEIR LIVES IN DANGER TO SAVE OTHERS. A THANK YOU TO ALL THE EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THEIR QUICK RESPONSE AND OUR COMMUNITY KNOW THOSE WHO WERE INVOLVED HAVE ALSO BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS TRADEGY.
FLOWERS, CANDLES AND TEDDYS HAVE BEEN LAID OUTSIDE THE HOUSE SINCE THEN AND EACH DAY THERE ARE MORE AND MORE ARRIVING.IT WONT BRING STEPHANI AND BEN BACK, BUT IT SHOWS THE LOVE AND THOUGHTS OF THE COMMUNITY.
ELLACOMBE WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS TRADGEY, WE ARE A STRONG COMMUNITY, WE WILL PULL TOGETHER, WE WILL ALWAYS HELP WHERE HELP IS NEEDED, AND STEHANI AND BEN WILL NEVER EVER BE FORGOTTEN.
WE ARE HEARTBROKEN WE COULD NOT SAVE YOU.
